This activity has three levels of differentiation.
Used with lower KS2 (Ages 7-9) but applicable to learners across the key stage.
Pupils read the 'Christmas themed' maths problems and decide on the appropriate type of calculation in order to find the answer.

This is an opportunity to introduce an engaging unit of work based on 'The Beatles'. The final task focuses on writing an interview text between a reporter and a member of 'The Beatles'. This resource is aimed at upper KS2 pupils (Years 5&6) but could also be used with years 7&8.

A full unit of work based around creating a talent show - This is a rich task aimed at embracing the principles of the new curriculum.
This resource includes an engaging set of activities which have been tried and tested in the classroom in KS2, but could be used with other age groups.
Video clips, worksheets, suggested activities, presentations, a plan for your show, job descriptions and evaluation materials are included. A comparison is made between 1960’s talent shows and the modern day format. This was used at the end of a topic based around the 1960’s.
A series of lessons/activities based on building a description of a rivers journey using personification and imagery from a first person perspective (You are the river describing your journey from source to mouth.) This is a tried and tested classroom resource.
Pupils should build their ideas using the learning resources provided and use the model text to write an effective description.
A model text, vocabulary activities, a planning template and a copy of the success criteria for writing an effective description is also included. This resource could be used with older pupils.

A series of activities to investigate the uses of key sites in South Wales during WW2 using carefully chosen aerial photos. Images of 1940’s locations and modern day equivalents are included. The children should look carefully for similar evidence and try to match the images. Aimed at KS2/3, the pupils will be encouraged to observe, discuss and participate in further research about the locations. This is a tried and tested classroom resource. Smaller images are provided for book work.

Learners research sporting events across the world and label their findings on the large blank world map. e.g. Date, location and type of event. More able pupils could work out how many years ago each event took place. A partly completed sample map is and a list of Olympic dates are also included.
For best results pupils should use A3 paper and shade using colours.
LO: To use atlases and maps to locate countries that have hosted major sporting events.
